Profile
My love for nature began as a youth while exploring the fields and creeks of beautiful upstate New York where I was born. It was there I viewed my first butterfly. I began spending countless hours studying many aspects of nature. When I couldn't be outside I drew numerous pictures of the creation I had grown to love. At that time I realized that I wanted to do "something" with art and nature when I grew up. In 1994 I began my career as a wildlife artist. Several years later I developed in interest in photography as well. Now interest has turned to passion and appreciation. Photography has enabled me to see intricate details and designs in nature that I would have missed otherwise. On this website I have included some of my most artistic images. My "abstract light blurs" were created by setting the camera to a fairly slow shutter speed, then moving the camera, while at the same time shooting an interesting light source. As an artist moves his brush over the canvas, so I move my camera while shooting to create lines, loops and breathtaking bars of light. The "fractal abstracts" were created by applying a kaleidoscope affect to select images whereby creating interesting patterns and designs, resulting in new and beautiful artistic images. I have also included some of my favorite nature images as well as a few abstracts featuring 'reflections' which I always find interesting. Upon viewing these images I hope that you will not only gain a greater appreciation for the creativity of others - but that you yourself may learn to see and think 'outside the box' and become a more creative person. If you are interested in viewing more of my images please visit my website at www.stevenrussellsmithphotos.com, where visitors are always welcome! Most of my images are available for publication in magazines, calanders, as fine art prints, for digital purposes, ect. Please e-mail your request to srsphotos@live.com
